1980s Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche safari jacket - XS/S/M
classic jacket from Yves Saint Laurent's ready-to-wear Rive Gauche line. Yves Saint Laurent is famous for his original safari line of jackets and tunics from the late 1960s, a style he revisited throughout the length of his career. this jacket dates to the 1980s, and I am quite sure is from the Spring 1987 collection, where an extremely similar jacket walked the runway, except this jacket has flaps on the front pockets and that one doesn't (this one is also a few shades darker, though the pants that the model wears are the same shade as this jacket). sometimes small adjustments were made in between the time the garments walked the runway and went into production, which could account for the variation - or this jacket is simply from another collection around the same time.
jacket is cut straight and boxy, with two front pockets. the buttons are large and meant to imitate ivory. no vent in back, with buttoned cuffs at each wrist. no lining, except the front pockets are lined in what feels like a viscose or something similar. colour is tan and warmer than photos might suggest, and can be seen best in the photo of the tag.
excellent vintage condition. dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.
fabric tag is too faded to be read. feels like thick, good quality cotton. made in France. marked 42, fits a US 0-2-4-6 (mannequin is a US 2) depending on desired fit. always check the measurements provided, however.
