S/S 2007 Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière runway drop-waist shirtdress - XS
perfect dress from the increasingly sought-after era of Balenciaga when Nicolas Ghesquière was at the helm before going to Louis Vuitton where he remains today.
the dress is from the popular S/S 2007 collection and walked the runway as look #22. cut like a shirtdress that sort of evokes a housecoat or men's robe and has a decontracté feel with its boxy fit, breast pocket, drop-waist and folded satin cuffs, the dress has a satin panel running down the middle in front, pleated skirt with patch pockets, and interesting cutouts at the drop waist where a belt can be passed through, like they did on the runway. there are various materials throughout, all of them in a satin finish, and the main one featuring a subtle pattern of mechanical gears.
excellent vintage condition. no flaws. dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.
made in Italy. materials are listed as 100% acetate, 80% acetate 20% polyester, 100% silk, and 54% polyamide 46% silk. size marked as 34, best fits XS or US 00-0, as the drop waistband is meant to sit low on the body and is quite constraining. shown here on a US 0 mannequin with 32" bust 23.5" waist and 33.5" hips.
