RESERVED S/S 1977 documented Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche velvet jacket - XS/S
exceptional jacket from the Fall 1977 ready-to-wear Rive Gauche collection from Yves Saint Laurent. the late 1970s were a potent creative time for YSL, who followed his famous Fall 1976 "Ballets Russes" collection with the Spring 1977 Spanish collection and then the Fall 1977 "Les Chinoises", the couture counterpart to the collection from which this jacket originates. very rare and collectible, the jacket was featured on the runway.
the jacket is beautifully constructed and in the deepest of black silk velvets. it features a ruffled standing collar and large ruffled panel that goes around the shoulder. it has extremely long ties at the neck, finished by a tassel on each end. has fitted cuff with voluminous sleeves and draped body. feels in between a jacket and cape with all of the fabric gathered underneath the ruffle on the back and then draping down and around the torso. no closure other than the ties at the neck.
excellent vintage condition. only flaw is a small pull in one tie down near the tassel and a small mark to the velvet at the bottom near the hem - imperceptible when worn. dry-cleaned.
no material marked. but certain it's a silk velvet with what feels like a silk satin lining. marked 36, best fits US 0-2-4 (mannequin is a US 2).
