F/W 2002 Donna Karan satin and matte tone on tone patchwork dress with cutaway at knit sleeves - XS/S
look #7 from Donna Karan's Fall 2002 collection, which she named Manhattan Blues, referencing her roots as the queen of downtown New York after her purchase by European behemoth LVMH a year prior. the dress is a patchwork of black satin and flat matte fabric forming a bias cut dress with a long tie at the neck which can be worn slung over the shoulder or wrapped around the neck. the dress also features a very thin knit sleeve, with a cut out at the shoulder on one side - a cheeky reference to her famous cold shoulder design that she introduced a decade prior. it's understated despite the amount of elements concealed in the design. the fabrics are a little thick despite the lightness of the bias cut and the dress is most appropriate in Spring, Fall and Winter.
very good vintage condition. there were a few pulls in the knit of one of the sleeves that have been professionally mended using fusing to stabilize the knit and do not show at all anymore. dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.
