F/W 1995 Geoffrey Beene dress with sheer lace bodice and accordion pleated wool skirt - XXS/XS
beautiful dress from American designer Geoffrey Beene's Fall 1995 collection. Beene had recently decided to use a mix of dancers and models in his presentations, and you can see the dress worn by a dancer on that season's runway layered under a vest. the dress consists of a sheer brown and black lace bodice with a front panel in the same wool floral as the skirt, ankle length and finished off by a silk ribbon trim. the lace has an interesting grid pattern mixed into the typical lace. the skirt contains a remarkable amount of wool fabric, tightly accordion pleated as of the waist and gaining width and volume as it goes.
very good vintage condition. some work had to be done to restore the lace at its seam with the skirt. important note to always store the dress by hanging it from the ribbon loops attached to the wool skirt and not by the shoulders of the lace bodice, as that puts undue strain on the delicate lace. the tag, which was present when we received the dress, seems now to have been misplaced most likely through dry-cleaning - we will try to retrieve the tag, though the price reflects the fact that it's missing. dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.
