F/W 1993 Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld fishnet belted coat - O/S
beautiful fishnet coat by Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi, from the Fall 1993 collection, where the designer, looking to experiment with the fashion house's longstanding use of fur, layered these fishnet pieces over fur and shearling coats. this re-contextualized what was seen as a formal, high-end material giving it an almost grunge and un-done appearance. the collection was exceptionally well-received at the time and was seen as another example of Lagerfeld's design genius.
the coat is knee-length, made of a mushroom beige nylon netting with wool trim, and comes with a matching, detached belt. there is no other closure. it is vented at each side. note that the runway examples sometimes used a scalloped trim, which seems to have been replaced with a straight edge trim in production.
excellent vintage condition. note that there was a sticker attached to the tag with the material and sizing information, which was misplaced during dry-cleaning. dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.
made in Italy. 100% nylon with 100% wool trim. marked size 38, fits S-M-L depending on desired effect, though if looking to layer it over a coat like Lagerfeld, best fits XS/S.
