c. 1990 Isaac Mizrahi wool jacket with bishop sleeve in pea green - M/L
very early piece from American designer Isaac Mizrahi. Mizrahi launched his name through a trunk show at Bergdorf's in 1987 and immediately became a big deal on the scene of American fashion. he managed to secure financing through Chanel in 1992, which lasted until 1998 when they pulled the plug and his eponymous fashion line became insolvent and closed. this jacket is best dated to 1990, specifically resort 1990 where it shares a very close resemblance to a piece with the same bishop sleeves, lines, and front button closures, only floor length instead of the jacket length of ours. if not from that collection, it is late 1980s or very early 1990s, most likely before the 1992 backing by Chanel.
the jacket has a flattering cut that follows the lines of the body, with exaggerated voluminous bishop sleeves, which end in fitted cuffs at each wrist. 100% wool, lined, and with a slash pocket at each hip, it has a collar and a row of covered buttons in the same light pea green colour, which can be hard to capture exactly - see final slide for colour.
very good vintage condition. only flaw to note is that the button at each cuff was missing and was replaced by a toggle button in the same colour way. dry-cleaned, and ready to be worn.
union made in the USA. 100% wool with maybe acetate lining. marked size 10, fits M/L or US 8-10 depending on your desired effect. shown here on US 2 mannequin, unclamped and too large.
