1970s Geoffrey Beene sheer silk chiffon dress with piping - XS/S
exquisite piece from American designer Geoffrey Beene. long dress, made of sheer paper thin crinkly red silk chiffon, detailed with contrasting tan piping laid out in grid-like lines. very sexy, the dress is almost entirely sheer, except where the layers juxtapose atop one another in the front, lending some opacity. there is also a lovely long slit. the colour is a soft tomato red, with warm undertones. it is cut quite straight and is meant to hang around the body and not really catch any curves, a very 70s silhouette. the wearer simply pulls the dress over their head, fuss free.
very good vintage condition. there are a few instances where very tiny holes have formed in the chiffon: a few around the button in front, one on the left shoulder, and one near the neck in back. these are discreet and do not really appear when on (the ones near the button in front are basically covered if you button the flap). there are also two horizontal pulls in the silk - one at the top of the slit and another mid back - which are very discreet. there are a few tiny spots which are extremely small. otherwise in excellent condition, especially considering the age and delicate nature of the fabric, and still presents beautifully. cleaned and ready to be worn.
no tags, but silk. fits XS/S or US 0-2-4 as it's intended to fit loose and simply hang. has some stretch due to the crinkle of the fabric. shown here on a US 2 mannequin with 32" bust and 34" hips.
