beautiful knit set from wild child designer Jean Paul Gaultier's F/W 1990 collection consisting of a fitted sweater with mock neck and a matching wide scarf with short black fringe, both in a beautiful Fair Isle print in plum, maroon and mustard. the sweater has a very flattering, long line cut that follows the lines of the body perfectly.

you can see similar Fair Isle knit sweaters on the runway that season worn with matching scarves and sometimes hats as well. the Fair Isle print is a recurring pattern for Gaultier who used it throughout his collections. this is a pretty early example.

very good vintage condition. the scarf has a few small pinholes on the black underside that were hand mended. the set is cleaned and ready to be worn.

made in Italy. material tag removed, wool or wool blend. no size tag, fits like XS/S or US 0-2-4. shown here on US 2 mannequin with 32" bust and 34" hips and fit very well.
