incredible set from prolific Italian designer Emanuel Ungaro's ready-to-wear Parallèle line. this sleek set is quite a departure for the designer, who is probably best known for his strong 1980s silhouettes with broad shoulders, nipped waists and often ruffled or ruched voluminous skirts. the pattern is also quite a leap - Ungaro loved bold colours and strong patterns, but stuck quite often to florals and polka dots and more geometric lines, while the organic shapes here are anything but. best dated to the 1980s, possibly very early 1990s. 

the fabric has a slight sheen and silky feel giving some of the colours a metallic finish. the shapes seem intentionally laid out, as they line up quite often and give the whole thing a continuous look. the top has a wrap silhouette with one side crossing over the other, and cut with a very wide open neckline. the pants are high waisted with a stretch waistband. the bodysuit features a snap closure at the crotch and three quarter length sleeves.

very good vintage condition. the top feels every so slightly stretched out along the front panels. otherwise excellent, dry-cleaned, and ready to be worn.

all the tags are very faded. fabric feels like spandex. marked size 8 but best fits XS/S or modern US 0-2-4 (shown here on US 2 mannequin).
