rare S/S 1978 Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche documented butterfly skirt - XS

rare and documented skirt from Yves Saint Laurent's Spring 1978 Rive Gauche line with a black and white butterfly pattern. a few different iterations exist, with birds instead of butterflies and sometimes in colour instead of black and white, though this pattern was featured in Vogue that year. it also walked the runway. it's a timeless, classic design from the infamous late 70s YSL era, which is very collectible and sought-after. 

unlined, the skirt had two pockets but the one on the right was sewn shut. the one in the left, adjacent to the zipper, remains open.

very good vintage condition. has some slight fraying along the top edge of the waistband in back (last slide), which does not affect wear. no stains or holes. freshly dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.

 made in France. quite certain it's a silk crepe. marked 34, best fits XS or US 0.
