beautiful Jean Paul Gaultier Classique full-length dress with sheer silk panels. the panel at the bust continues over the shoulder down the back with a keyhole fastening at the neck and is a beautiful olive tone. the silk panel at the slit on the leg is a sheer peach. the dress is actually made of an under slip in the sheer silk, with the top half in the olive and the bottom half in the peach, that a black rayon dress sits over top of. best dated to the 1990s or early 2000s.

the two different tones of sheer silk against the opaque black create a wonderful effect, which adds so much visual interest while remaining  true to the minimalist lines of the dress. very smart design.

very good vintage condition. the only flaw is very subtle damage in certain spots to the sheer silk, most notably at one shoulder. luckily the black strap of the dress bears all the weight of the garment, which means that the wear to the silk will not be exacerbated or get worse. none of these small areas of wear to the silk show at all when worn, but care will need to be taken to ensure the damage remains small (see final slides). dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.

made in Italy. 100% silk slip lining and rayon black over dress. marked US 8 but really fits US 2-4 maybe 6. not much stretch and really fits best when it can hang off the body as it is cut quite square and isn't meant to fit and flare. mannequin is a US 2.
