beautiful piece from the famed 1976 Russian Collection from Yves Saint Laurent's Rive Gauche line. technically the Russian Collection was that season's Haute Couture collection, but like the S/S 1977 Spanish Collection and F/W 1977 Opium Collection, the same (and sometimes more interesting/exploratory) designs and themes trickled down into the designer's highly sought after Rive Gauche line.

the skirt features a slight a-line shape with some gathering of the fabric at the waist. it has a thick waistband, a beautiful gold detailed trim at the bottom and pockets at each hip. it does up on the side with a concealed zipper and two clasps at the waist. it is made of a lush cotton/rayon velvet blend and lined. it was documented in both behind the scenes photos and an editorial image.

very good vintage condition. some slight wear, consistent with age, but nothing to make note of. dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.

made in France. 70% cotton 30% rayon and rayon lining. marked 40, best fits modern S or US 2-4 (shown on US 2 mannequin). always consult the measurements to ensure the proper fit.
