F/W 1977 Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Chinoiserie collection sweater skirt set - M
very rare knit set from the famous F/W 1977 Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche "Chinoiserie" collection, that the designer paired with the release of his Opium perfume. this set appears to be a sample and was most likely not made for retail; it even has what seem like 1960s tags, which was a common practice when making samples - to use outdated tags - in order to limit waste.
the set has the same cut and design as the one that walked the runway that season, except in an olive brown, eggplant and salmon colourway, which we also saw on the runway in a shawl. the only difference appears to be, from the placement of the tag on the skirt, that the sample version of the skirt placed the slit on the side of the leg, though you can simply adjust it slightly as we have to place the slit over the leg, like the runway version.
it consists of a knit zippered sweater with ribbed cuffs, waistband, and hood and an a-line skirt with slit. the sleeves on the sweater have a fair amount of volume before finishing off in that cinched cuff. beautiful construction and design from an important collection from the most collectible era for the designer.
very good vintage condition - very likely never worn. cleaned and ready to be worn.
