beautiful matching set from Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche during Tom Ford's slightly controversial reign at the house, when Yves Saint Laurent was not pleased with the direction the popular new designer was taking his namesake brand. this set is composed of a slightly cropped velvet jacket, with satin silk lapels and covered buttons, and a velvet knee length skirt, ruched along the centre, accentuated by a thick grosgrain ribbon featured around the waist and as long ties that can be tied into a bow or left hanging as is. the velvet, satin silk and ribbon are all in tones of deep navy blue.

this set walked the runway in the Fall/Winter 2002 collection and was prominently featured in campaign materials. also a variation with a non velvet skirt was worn by Chloe Sevigny in a Vogue profile of her from that year, shot by Mario Testino. a real testament to its beautiful design and timeless romance.

the set is in very good vintage condition, other than a few rubs to the velvet on the skirt that are only slightly noticeable when on. freshly dry-cleaned and pressed and ready to be worn.

made in France. cotton velvet on acetate backing with silk trimmings (73% acetate, 19% cotton, 8% silk). Jacket is marked 42 and skirt is marked 40, but suit best fits M or US 6-8 (mannequin is a US 2 and items are not clamped, but definitely fit too large). always carefully consult the measurements to ensure a good fit.
