Yves Saint Laurent was all about the cape in the 1970s and has a variety of beautiful examples in his collections. this one is best dated to the Fall 1976 Russian Collection due to the shape, braided trim and frog closure with center tassel (though its hooded counterpart was featured more prominently on the runway that season). it is made of a beautiful black wool and falls evenly around the body, with a slight angle towards the back. this cape was shortened by its previous owner, and was originally roughly 11 inches longer.

very good vintage condition. there is a small pinhole in the back, near the bottom quarter, that measures an 1/8 of an inch. there is a notch, smaller than that, along the bottom edge, in back. the tassle and frog closure have the slightest wear, consistent with age. dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.

made in France. no material tag, but wool. no size marked, fits S-M-L due to shape (shown on US 2 mannequin).
