lovely and sexy dress from French designer Martine Sitbon, who helmed the French label Chloé after Karl Lagerfeld's departure in 1987 and up until his eventual return in 1992. she was the first of a series of women designers, before Stella McCartney and then Phoebe Philo, who got their start at the brand and continued on to do great things in the world of fashion.

the dress consists of a black mini, made of a slightly textured, shiny fabric, overlayed by a longer, matte black dress that is open on the left side, where it buttons, cinching the waist and revealing the mini. the mini has slightly wider straps than the overlay, giving an interesting detail at the collar. a very unique design, though still classic. best dated to the early 1990s.

good vintage condition - the fabric of the mini has become slightly faded in certain spots over the years, giving it a slight red-ish hue in some areas, though this looks more or less intentional and does not affect wear (and is mostly hidden by the overlay). freshly dry-cleaned and ready to be worn.

made in Italy. 50% rayon and 50% acetate - we guess that the mini is made of rayon and the overlay acetate. marked 42, best fits US 10-12, shown here clamped on US 2. mannequin.
