F/W 2002 Christian Dior by John Galliano runway dress - XS
Christian Dior dress from the Fall 2002 collection. it walked the runway as look 11, worn as a skirt with a fur jacket worn overtop. from the collectible John Galliano years, when the designer radically shifted the legacy house while still remaining true to some of its foundational design codes. this dress is pretty much a full departure, other than the classic drop waist: a nod to the 1920s, an era that Galliano famously pulls from. constructed of a tight ribbed wool tube top attached to a thick cotton mini skirt with false cargo pockets and a slit in both the front and back. it can be worn as a dress or folded down as a skirt as well.
good vintage condition. only flaw is a number of pinholes in the brown ribbed portion, which have been hand mended. the mending is sometimes visible upon very close inspection, but not when worn. close-ups of some of the mending shown in the final slides. otherwise in excellent condition and dry-cleaned. price reflects the damage.
made in France. ribbed portion is 85% wool, 15% polyester and skirt portion is 100% cotton. marked 36/ US 4, but best fits US 0-2 as the ribbing is quite tight.
