exquisite jacket from iconic designer Gianni Versace's Fall/Winter 1996 collection. walked the runway over a matching blue and red slip dress. clashing colours were a big theme to this collection, especially the red and the blue, as they shot a full campaign with Kate Moss featuring the two colours juxtaposed. this is quite a famous collection, with many gowns being pulled in the last few years by various celebrities.

the jacket feels like a giant jewel, with the deep ruby red silk and wool blend satin and shiny red jewelled buttons at the collar and cuffs. the shape is slightly a-line, gaining volume around the waist and then slowly widening at the bottom. the contrasting lining is in a bright sky blue, matte fabric, comfortable against the skin. a lovely piece, masterfully constructed of the best materials. 

has two functional pockets and one fake pocket, though the two working ones are still sewn shut and would need to be seam ripped open if desired. there is also a replacement button for the collar, if need be.

very good vintage condition, other than the following flaws. at the front left shoulder, near the top, is a small slice to the satin and another small pull just below that. also, on the left sleeve, there is slight fraying at the bottom of the cuff, where the red satin meets the blue lining. on the underside of the left sleeve, near the bottom, there is some wear to the material, which does not really show, but would need to be treated delicately, especially when cleaning, to ensure no more damage is done. the jacket has been priced accordingly. other than these flaws (shown in last 3 slides) it is in very good condition, presents beautifully, has been dry-cleaned and is ready to be worn.

made in Italy. satin is 52% wool 48% silk. lining is rayon. marked size 40, which usually corresponds to a US 4-6, could fit US 2-4-6-8 maybe 10, depending on desired effect (mannequin is a US 2). always consult measurements carefully to ensure a proper fit.
